Good morning everyone! So as you can tell I’ve not been following my schedule very well this week, and I’m so sorry about that. Right now, I’m beyond stressed. It’s currently past 1 am, and I have to be up at 5 am so I can get ready for Nationals. Instead of sleeping, I’m writing this post. So I hope ya’ll enjoy it because it’s a struggle to be awake right now. So this is how Day 2 went.

Day 2 was awesome! I didn’t have to be at my orientation until 3 pm, so that meant I got to sleep in some. I ended up waking up at 7:30 am. I took my time and got ready. My fellow student was already awake and ready to go. He had gone to bed way earlier than I did so he was wide awake by 6:30 am. After a while, we finally go and meet up with our teacher and headed to get some breakfast and stop by Lowes to look at some different things he wanted to show us. We end up in Indiana and grab some iHop for breakfast. It was amazing! Then we went to Lowes and looked at some different tools, parts, and pieces. My teacher showed both me and my fellow student a few tricks and things we needed to keep in the back of our minds. He also went and bought some pieces of conduit for us to practice on, which I haven’t done yet… Then we decided to head back to the hotel room to practice the conduit bending, but by the time we got back, we realized that it was time to head to the competition so my fellow student could go to his orientation and take his test. We took a shuttle bus to the competition place and find where he needs to go. Come to find out him, and I are on opposite sides of the competition area. So my teacher is going to be getting a few miles worth of steps today and tomorrow. I feel bad he has to walk that far to see both of us. My fellow student’s orientation starts at 1 pm, and mine starts at 3, so while we are waiting for my orientation to start me and my teacher look around. My teacher goes and gets himself some ice cream, and we walk around looking at all the different competitions and their prizes. It was insane how many tools that my fellow student could win for his competition. Just for the participation prizes alone, he will get to tables full of tools! It’s insane!!! It surprised even my teacher. After a while, we decide to go check out the SkillsUSA merch. Well I end up finding three shirts that I love, so I grab those, and we check out and by that time my fellow student texts my teacher and tells him that the book he was going to use for the test wasn’t allowed and he needed the original version of the book. So my teacher and I had to race back to the hotel grab the book and run back to my fellow student to give him the book, which come to find out he didn’t even need for the test anyway.

About that time, it’s time for my orientation so I and my teacher head that way while my fellow student finishes up his stuff. I go through my orientation. It was them going over a few details over the competition, had us sign up for reminders, told us times of where we needed to be where, a few rules, and other small details. I also had to provide a resume that I had on me, thankfully. Then that was it. We went and walked around a little bit more and eventually ended up going back to the hotel. We get changed into more comfortable clothes, which for me was changing from my competition shirt into one of the new shirts I bought. Then we went and checked out this shop called Duluth Trading Co. My fellow student wanted to get some pants from there. It was a cool store. Tons of stuff I would’ve loved to buy. I didn’t realize it till we got there, but it was the store from the commercial about the buck-naked underwear. It was a hilarious commercial! If you haven’t seen it, I’d recommend you watch it because it was priceless! Plus it was fun to go check out the store from the famous commercial. I did end up getting a surprise from there…something for me and my friends to use. I’d say what it is, but some of them read my blog, so I don’t want to spoil it for them… Anyway, after we finished there, we walked everywhere for somewhere good to eat and eventually settled on a place called Old Spaghetti Factory. It was terrific. I got this cool drink called “Blackberry Cream Soda”, which tasted amazing, and it came in a cool glass they let me keep! I also got some garlic shrimp fettuccine. It tasted amazing. It came with some bread, soup, and some of the best ice cream I’d ever had in my life. I could’ve at ten bowls of it!!! I was so full afterward.

We left the restaurant and headed back to the hotel where we saw some people my teacher knew. I believe it was the advisor and two of her girls from Cosmetology. I’d never seen any of them before, but they seemed friendly, and I’d met the advisor with my teacher when we were checking out the merch in the competition area. Come to find out they go to the same college as I do, so it was awesome to meet people who go to the same state as us because there are people from all 50 states here plus some of the territories. I heard someone mention there are over 6500 competitors! And that’s not including all the family, friends, and advisors that are here too. We somehow ended up on the subject about me having to be at the competition by 7:35 am and how we were trying to figure out how to get there and get breakfast. Well apparently the girls’ advisor had bought some breakfast stuff for them and offered to share some with us, and the two girls agreed with her and said that they’d be more than willing to share, which was awesome and sweet of them. And I’m not sure how it happened, but one of the girls ended up asking me on her own if she could give me her number so I could get ahold of her later for the food. I’ll be honest; I had food in my belly and was exhausted. And now this girl was offering to give me her number. So I just said sure, and she ended up asking for my phone so she could put it in. So now I’ve got this girls number, and I’m not going to need any food, lol. We found out that the hotel restaurant opens at 6 and the buses leave around 6:30ish so we’re all set. But it made for an interesting night. First time I’d ever had a random girl offer to give me her number, lol.

After that interesting event, we ended up going to the hotel room and practicing some conduit bending. We didn’t finish that till about 10 pm. Then I had to do some things for my online math class. I didn’t finish that till about 12:45 am. Then I took a shower, did a couple of things I needed to do. And now I’m here. It’s almost 2 am and I have to be up in three hours. I haven’t had a chance to study for either of my tests tomorrow or practiced bending any of the conduit yet. So now I have to choose between sleep and studying. Ugh.

Well, wish me luck ya’ll and please be praying I do well. I’m so exhausted and stressed right now idk what I’m going to do. Thanks so much for all of the support! I’m so sorry I haven’t been able to post what I want to; it’s a struggle to get these posts out with everything that’s going on right now. But I hope you all enjoyed seeing how my day went today!! It’s been a blast so far, and I’m excited for the rest of the week. Hopefully, I can get more sleep than I do tonight, lol. Till next time ya’ll. Peace and God Bless!!
